Is an Epoxy Cool Roof system (ECRS) impervious to water?

 

Our ECRS can be installed on a wet roof and even underwater! The ECRS is an epoxy based adhesion. The Epoxy bonds to surfaces better than surfaces bond to themselves. An example would be similar to the structural bond of concrete. We offer a FULL WARRANTY against any standing water damage. Water cannot travel laterally thru a structurally bonded ply. Since the ECRS adheres to all roof surfaces your roof will remain water tight regardless of which type of roof you have.

Why Does Standing Water pose major issues to roofs?

 

In just a short amount of time standing water can strip a mineral roof capsheet roof skin of its protective granule cover. If this protective layer is worn the rolled felt underneath is exposed to the weather. Standing water will make short life of the roofs exposed felt resulting in possible structural damage.

Standing Water- Can become a major issue for building owners. Essentially what happens is this: Standing water acts as a magnifying glass focusing UV light (a surprisingly corrosive agent) on to the glue holding the granules in place. The acid rain or carbonic acid in rain degrades the glue further until the granules break away. Now the standing water and UV from the sun focus on the rolled felt which is much softer and easier to degrade. Our Epoxy is impervious to water, heat and UV. This is why we offer a Standing Water Warranty with any of our strong warranties.

Will an ECRS solve roof leaks?

 

Because it is not easy to find some leaks. Since the ECRS bonds structurally, molecule to molecule water cannot travel through structurally bonded ply.
