Mill Frame
Technical Support Team
Historically building methods were passed down from a master carpenter i.e. framer to an apprentice verbally, through demonstration, and through work experience. designs, engineering details, floor plans, methods were time tested and communicated through rules of thumb like they still are in some 3rd world countries rather than scientific study and documents. Each region of the world has variations on traditions, tools and materials and methods and 3rd party support. The carpenters who found themselves in the New World based their work on their traditions but adapted to new materials, climate, and a mix of cultures. Immigrants to America were from all parts of the world so the history of American carpentry is very diverse and complex and today maybe even more complex. As we watch this explosion of mid-rise multifamily building, we are seeing and hearing problems that are in need of the next solution. Some of us were part of watching how wood framing had to embrace new ways to hold wood framed buildings together after the Northridge Quake. We watched companies like Simpson develop new shear walls with extensive testing. We watched earth-bound "tie down" seismic systems become the norm. Building industry innovators continue to develop new and better ways to increase building performance while at the same time decreasing building costs. The Team behind the concept of The Old Guys Rule Framing Support have developed many innovations over the years and will design them into your jobs to increase building performance, shorten construction schedules, and reduce costs!
The Old Guys Rule Framing and Technical Support Team concept is similar to this and isn't our first rodeo. We are a group with a great deal of experience and with one vision and that is to make building wood framed buildings better, faster and easier while reducing cost. Some of our team that has been framing around the US and Canada long before the Northridge Quake of 1994.
Two of the members have engineering degrees, two of the members have extension EWP design experience and the remainder of the members have combined framing experience of over 80 years. Our value proposition is to VE the plans we bid to make sure we are finding the best ways to reduce construction time. We table frame our window and door openings because we know that this can be done more efficiently than on the job site. Our EWP floor and roof systems are the best in NA because of our technical expertise and extensive training. By precisely cutting and packaging the floor system we will assure you our quality and execution can not be duplicated and will be equal to or better than what is specified. We will coat all the lumber in our pre-framed window and door openings with an eco-friendly coating that comes with a 10 warranty against Mold, Rot, Termite and Fire.
One of our members is under a 3-year assignment by the US Department of Trade and The International Trade Association to help make our American Construction Industry even better. We are committed to training those that will follow us when we retire.
Our commitment to you is we will work as a team on both the design, supply side and the job site with significant technical support in order to build your building with high quality at a faster pace than if everything was cut and built on site.
